About me
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Chris Surrey and I started
DJing in the 1980's playing soul, disco and jazz in pubs. In the 1990's
I started to do more corporate and wedding functions, so I started to
invest in more professional equipment and music to reflect this. The
size of my light show and the quality of the sound equipment continues
to grow to this day with technology dictating the way forward. As well
as corporate and wedding functions, I also do birthday, anniversary and
retirement parties. In fact, Solar discos can accommodate any event.
When you book Solar discos for your function, you are booking myself to
DJ. I do not operate an agency whereby anybody who is available turns
up. This is the biggest complaint against our industry. If for any
reason (and it would have to be a very good reason) I could not turn up
myself, I would send a replacement that I knew could do as good a job.
However, this has not happened in 15 years, but it is a safety net in
case of unforeseen circumstances. I see the role of the DJ as more than
someone just playing music. The DJ conducts the events of the whole
evening, much in the same way as a toastmaster does during the day, and
the level of traditionalism is as much, or as little, as you want it to
be. One of the main objectives of the DJ is to keep as many people on
the dancefloor as possible, avoiding those 'floor killers' that reflect
badly on the DJ. I like to think that my experience helps me to avoid
these situations. To sum it all up, my mission is to provide the best
quality of service and ensure your guests enjoy themselves as much as
possible.
